About US
The Detroit Family Caregiving Initiative, Living Our Legacies, is a Cohort group of Detroit Area Caring Congregations, their ministries and over one hundred ministry leaders singularly focused on improving the health and wellbeing of Family Caregivers and their loved ones.
- 3-Year Pilot: Family Caregiving Preparation, Planning, Crisis Prevention and Preservation Program, with an emphasis on self-care, while caring for others.
- End Goal: 100 Trained Living Legacy Leaders with the skills, competencies, hands, hearts, and caring spirits to support family caregivers by caring for themselves.
The Initiative is implemented by the National Association of Black Women Entrepreneurs (NABWE), administered by the Detroit Area Agency on Aging and funded by the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation in cooperation with Detroit area Christian congregations.

living legacy leaders
A Living Legacy Leader is a trained individual, embedded within families, communities and congregations, who provides proactive, compassionate, caring and informed support to those who are navigating the challenges of life transitions such as aging, caregiving, isolation, illness, disability, serious illness, grief, and end-of-life.
